Policies & Procedures

1. NO SHOW POLICY
An official who fails to show up for an assignment will be fined $50 for a dual meet and $100 for a tournament. Failure to pay the fine will result in no further assignments and no post- season assignments. The official has the right to appeal the fine to the Executive Board in the case of unusual circumstances.

2. NOVICE TOURNAMENT
Novice Tournaments are how we finance our association. It is the reason officials will not be charged an assignment fee. All officials may be assigned two or more Novice Tournaments for no fee. Officials failing to officiate an assigned Novice Tournament may be in jeopardy of losing assignments, will not be considered for post season assignments and will be fined the tournament fee.

3. RETURNING ASSIGNMENTS
Switching assignments will not be allowed. Officials will be charged $5.00 for
each official-requested assignment change, after an assignments is accepted.
If unable to make an assignment, it is the responsibility of the official to contact the Assignment Secretary. If possible, find an available and equally rated official and inform the Assignment Secretary.
The school should also be notified of the change so the check can be made out to the correct official. Call the ASB Bookkeeper or Athletic Director.

4. CONFIRMATION OF ASSIGNMENT
It is the responsibility of the official to double check all assignments against the master list and it is suggested that officials call the school to confirm the time and place of the match, especially in special situations. An updated master list will be found by logging onto www.SCWOfficials.com

5. CONFLICT OF INTEREST
Officials should not place themselves or the association in a position to be criticized or scrutinized because of attachments at a specific team or school. This would include close relatives, alumni status, coaching connections, or any other situation that may place undue pressure on an official. Indicate on the availability form any schools you do not wish to officiate.

6. UNIFORM
Officials should always wear the proper uniform as mandated by the rules book.

7. MEETING CREDIT
In order to be credited with meeting attendance, an official must arrive no later than 15 minutes after the starting time of the meeting and remain until the end.

8. ARRIVAL TIME
Officials should arrive at an assignment a minimum of 30 minutes before the starting time of the assignment.

9. VARSITY MATCH COVERAGE
The Junior Varsity official should remain at the site until the Varsity official arrives to ensure that there will be an official for the Varsity match.

10. DURATION OF ASSIGNMENTS
Officials shall remain at an assignment until the conclusion of the event. When an official is assigned a tournament or multiple meet, that official will remain at the site until the end of the event. An official accepting an assignment, verifies availability for the duration of the meet. If a change in availability arises, the official should obtain a replacement.

11. REPORT PROBLEMS
Any problems arising at a school with a coach, administration, crowd, students, parents involving removal must be reported in writing to the CIF Liaison, the SCWOA president, and the school administrator.

12. EXHIBITION MATCHES
Members of the SCWOA will NOT officiate exhibition matches.

13. MILEAGE
A flat fee will be used to compensate officials for travel, based on the following scale (All mileage is round trip).

51 – 75 miles = $12.00 251 – 350 miles = $54.00
76 – 125 miles = $18.00 351 – 450 miles = $72.00
126 – 175 miles = $30.00 451 miles and above; see Blue Book
176 – 250 miles = $42.00
